Edit, Design, and Formatting of a Non-Fiction Book for Small Businesses

Last year, I had the enjoyable experience of editing a small business book for Craig Wood, of Sculpt Accountants in Australia, who is a chartered accountant and a widely recognized authority on small-business performance improvement and tax for privately owned businesses.

He wrote a book called How To Stay Small And Win Big: Small Business Growth Tips, For The Private Owner, That Defy Convention. It is a ninety-six-page book full of simple yet profound tips for small, privately-owned businesses based on conversations he had with experts in the field.

He self-published his book on Amazon in both print and e-book formats and you can purchase his book here. It includes a great tool to help you calculate two critical measures for your businesses’ future marketing activities.

Editorial Responsibilities

I edited and formatted his book for self-publishing both in print and as an e-book:

• Conducted a full copy edit and proofread aimed at an American audience.
• Created a style sheet for consistency of spelling (US), punctuation, word usage, etc. utilizing the 17th Edition of The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS).
• Formatted the manuscript, design and created files for print and e-book self-publishing (EPUB, MOBI, PDF) for Amazon Kindle, Kobo, Apple, Nook, and other platforms that require a generic EPUB file.
